As demonstrated in this video, you can easily read the date printed on your units without removing them from the wall brackets, simply by looking underneath the microwave. Here you can see the date November 2018 displayed. Over the years the replacement date has been conveyed in several different ways. In every case, the date code represents the month and year that the unit must be replaced, not the date that it was manufactured.
Depending on the age of your units, the date code may be represented in one of four ways. The entire month and year is spelled out. The month and year are displayed followed by a work order. The month is abbreviated and the year is listed with a revision level character. The month and year represented by a four digit code followed by a revision level.
